In partnership with the Equality Authority the Angling Council of Ireland aims to promote new and existing opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in angling sport and recreation encouraging good health and well being as well as an element of outdoor physical activity.
The ACI works with Local Sports Partnerships and their Social Inclusion Development Officers to promote our angling for all programmes including the ACI CAST and Angling for Youth Development Ireland (AFYDI) programmes. The ACI has modified some programmes to make them more adaptable for a broader range of people, while maintaining all the core elements. The ACI has also encouraged federations and clubs to facilitate rule changes at venues and in clubs to accommodate those with disabilities. Levelling the playing field is vital to ensure we remain an inclusive organisation. By providing taster sessions, the ACI encourages all groups to come and try angling. Our trained and vetted coaches deliver the taster sessions and they are well received by participants.
