The Angling Council was delighted to once again be part of Ireland’s most popular Angling Expo at the National Show Centre in Swords.  This year we were supported by our member federations to provide information about their sport & recreation.  Sharing their skills over the weekend were Michael Quinn of the Irish Federation of Sea Anglers, IFSA  taking the opportunity to sort out his tackle box whilst amusing junior visitors with his display of bait; Bob Seward of the Angling Council representing the Salmon and Sea Trout Anglers of Ireland, SSTRAI supported by John Mealy expert fly tier and Vincent Walsh, the National Coarse Fishing Federation’s International Float Team Manger offering tips & advice to the coarse anglers.  Julian Kendrick, secretary of the NCFFI who also runs a successful Angling for Youth Development Hub was also on-site sharing the benefits of joining a club with a few items to keep the juniors amused.

The popularity of the Family Zone was good to see with members of the NCFFI’s Feeder Team Cathal Hughes and Philip Jackson providing much amusement with their Pole Cupping Competition alongside the IFI’s casting activity. Then there was the Battle of the Anglers won again by the Coarse anglers with the support of visiting English angler Mark Pollard.

Always an enjoyable weekend where we catch up with our members and partners and form new relationships.  Special thanks to our members for giving up their time to share the good work and to Hugh & Grace of Mara Media for their support of our sport & recreation.
